We hope this single-player version conveys our game's mid-to-early gameplay and design philosophy—it's genuinely not meant to be a cash grab. Here's how this version came to be: The four of us spent two years developing it, followed by a year of testing the online version on TapTap. Upon releasing on Steam, it was immediately flooded with negative reviews within a day or two. Considering the game had generally positive feedback and reviews on TapTap, we carefully analyzed the negative Steam reviews. The biggest issue stemmed from a lack of understanding of Steam's ecosystem, leading us to implement a buy-to-play model with in-app purchases (VIP). We promptly removed the VIP and ranking systems, after which reviews began trending in a normal direction. We're happy about that. Personally, we believe that without negative bias, it's easy to see our straightforward, transparent approach to monetization—everything is clear at a glance. However, the players we lost won't return. Not wanting to bury two years of hard work, we conceived this single-player version. We removed all in-app purchases, deleted online modules (real trading house/arena/world chat/scripture pavilion), added new unit types, and replaced all art and effects with brand-new scenes and characters. We hope players can feel the developers' sincerity.
Game Features
- Slot Machine (Path of Inner Demons): Miss the slot machines of your childhood? Here, we've perfectly recreated the 70s-style slot machine. Big Three Dragons, Small Three Dragons—all come with rewards. Little Four Winds, Opening Train, Roaming Bomb, Chain Bomb, Combo Bomb—all meticulously recreated. In the game, players can use it to earn massive amounts of in-game currency, although statistically speaking, it's nearly impossible.
- Tower Defense & Cultivation - Luck-Based Tower Rerolling & Strategy Synergy: Each of the four towers has its own specialty. Based on a tower's HP, Attack, Attack Speed, Attack Range, Growth Potential, and Skill Slots, towers are divided into seven potential grades. However, potential isn't the sole criterion for judging a tower; what matters more is the synergy between all the aforementioned aspects. "What's your tower's potential?" is a common topic among players. It's currently the most research-worthy, most expansive, and most unexpectedly fun cultivation aspect of the game.
- Death Mechanic: Once you die in the game, it means returning to Floor 1 and losing your hard-earned towers. Rebirth will randomly determine your new tower's defense potential. Cultivate them until you die again during your run. It's your choice: advance for greater rewards or stay on the current floor and play it safe.
- Dungeons: AFK Deer Master & Green Loop Circle: The control lies in the time investment. You can spend ten minutes to complete these two tasks, or dedicate two hours to carefully and repeatedly study them to maximize your rewards.
- Skills - Luck-Based Skill Learning; Your Tower Might Not Get the Skill You Want: The game features 34 skills, each with three grades: Common, Advanced, and Premium. A newly learned skill has a high probability of replacing an already learned one. Therefore, achieving synergy between desired skills requires both luck and patience.
Gameplay
- Core Loop: Build your defense between four towers, face hordes of monsters swarming from all directions, and enjoy the satisfying "mowing down" kill experience.- Skill Stacking: Freely combine and stack skills to create your unique tower defense build.
- Deep Cultivation: Change your tower's talents and potential through "tower rerolling," pursue optimal synergies, and experience the surprises brought by randomness.
- Risk vs. Reward: As you push to higher floors, both rewards and risks increase. Death resets everything, forcing a fresh start with random conditions.
- Relaxed AFK Gameplay: Invest time as you see fit in the "AFK Deer Master" and "Green Loop Circle" dungeons to maximize resource gains.
