When the Pale Flowers Bloom / Blood Flowers

Game Introduction

When the Pale Flowers Bloom is a puzzle-driven narrative single-player game developed by Bone Nail, released in Early Access on November 3, 2022. The game blends elements of adventure, indie, role-playing, simulation, and strategy, offering players a journey filled with mystery and warmth.

The story begins with a mysteriously fallen star. Through meticulously designed puzzles, players will gradually recover lost childhood memories and, in the process, uncover the truth behind the "Blood Tree Catastrophe" that occurred in the "White City" centuries ago. Where the flowers bloom in abundance, will it be the warm embrace of family or the ruins of memories mingled with sorrow? Everything awaits the player's discovery.

In the game, the active substance brought by the extraterrestrial star is both a seed of hope and the root of disaster. Greed and fear fester within human nature, and what kind of monster is fed depends entirely on humanity's own choices.

Game Features

Unique Visual Style

The development team deliberated for a long time between a realistic and a chibi art style, with the studio's cat ultimately drawing lots to decide on the current chibi character style. This style is not only well-suited for creating dynamic effects, making character movement and interactions smoother and more natural, but also allows for effective control of the horror atmosphere during key plot moments, avoiding excessive fright for players.

Diverse Cast of Characters

The game features a cast of vividly characterized individuals:

- White City Geological Research Institute Assistant: Gentle and adorable, loves rabbits. Usually well-behaved and cute, but can bite when pushed.
- Top Meteorite Hunter of the Meteorite Association, Zhang Yinchen: Possesses the special ability to see things that don't exist, yet constantly convinces himself "It's an illusion, all an illusion."
- Only Daughter of the Geological Research Institute Director: A senior university student, track and field athlete, lively as sunshine, also capable of seeing miraculous phenomena.
- Current President of the Meteorite Association: Former top hunter, switched to management after breaking a leg from jumping off an airship.
- Orphaned Bai Family Girl, Medical Student: Exceptionally talented in medicine, travels far and wide healing the sick, yet inadvertently blocks certain people's paths.

Immersive Narrative Experience

The game deeply explores themes of human nature, greed, fear, and redemption. Through multiple interwoven narrative threads, players are constantly prompted to ponder during the puzzle-solving process: where will humanity ultimately go when faced with the unknown and temptation?

Puzzle-Centric Core
