Game Introduction

JARS is an indie game that blends tower defense strategy, physics-based puzzles, and adventure collection elements, centered around the concept of a "glass jar battlefield in a micro-world." Players take on the role of an explorer who accidentally stumbles into an ancient alchemy laboratory, only to discover that all the jars and bottles have come to life as defensive towers, traps, and mechanisms. The game features a 2.5D hand-drawn art style enhanced with dynamic lighting and physics, unfolding a real-time strategic battle "against monsters in jars" within a vibrant yet slightly gloomy Victorian-era laboratory.

Story Background: The "Universal Solvent" left behind by an alchemist has been accidentally activated, causing every glass jar in the laboratory to give birth to unique magical creatures. To prevent disaster, players must use the remaining jars and experimental equipment to build defenses, concoct reagents, and ultimately seal the out-of-control alchemical core.

Game Features

- Physics-Driven Tower Defense Mechanics
Every defensive unit is a "jar itself": shattering glass jars instantly deals area damage; tilting beakers creates persistent damage-over-time zones with acid; spinning centrifuge tubes can fling enemies off the battlefield. Gravity, liquid flow, and glass shard trajectories are all simulated in real-time.

- Dynamic Laboratory Levels
Each floor of the laboratory is an interactive 3D environment: swing chandeliers to reveal hidden compartments, topple iron bridges to alter enemy paths, or ignite alcohol lamps to trigger chain explosions. Levels randomly spawn "experiment accident" events (leaks, fires, vacuum collapses), ensuring every challenge is unique.

- 300+ Collectible "Jar Spirits"
Defeated enemies are sealed into new jars, becoming defensive towers, weapons, or passive buffs for the player. Jar Spirits are divided into five categories (Acid, Fire, Frost, Electric, Arcane) and can be freely combined to create synergistic reactions, such as "Ice-Fire Jars" triggering meltdown explosions.

- Reagent Crafting System
During intermission preparation phases, players can synthesize reagents at the alchemy bench using collected materials to enchant jars or create throwable consumables. Different reagents produce vastly different tactical effects on the same jar (e.g., "Potassium Permanganate" turns fire jars into poison mist, while "Liquid Nitrogen" transforms electric jars into area slow fields).

- Puzzle-Style Boss Battles
The colossal "Jar Kings" at the end of each chapter cannot be defeated through brute force alone. Players must utilize environmental mechanics: guide lasers with refracting mirrors to crack the Boss's shell, drain protective fluids using siphoning principles, or form cutting nets from shards in zero-gravity zones.

- Roguelite Progression Loop
Failed runs retain unlocked Jar Spirit blueprints and alchemy recipes. Players can spend "Glass Shards" to upgrade initial reagent capacity. Each new cycle unlocks hidden laboratories (Steam Pipes, Vacuum Chambers, Time Corridors), introducing new enemies and terrain interactions.

Gameplay

  1. Pre-Battle Preparation
- Select up to 12 Jar Spirits from the unlocked pool to form an "Experiment Deck."
- Adjust jar placement order and elevation based on level terrain (tilted tables, rotating bookshelves, sinking floors) to create "rolling stone jars" or "falling bombs" using physics-based drops.

  1. Real-Time Deployment & Micro-Management
- During combat, resources are represented by "Alchemical Energy," which regenerates over time and can be gained by breaking environmental light tubes or absorbing enemy fragments.
- Drag and drop jars to designated positions, then hold to fine-tune jar orientation (affecting liquid trajectory) or double-tap to instantly detonate or pour contents.
- When enemies approach the core "Experiment Flask," sacrifice any on-field jar to trigger emergency skills, such as shattering it to create a glass shield or igniting it to form a firewall.

  1. Reaction Chains & Combos
- Acid + Fire = Explosive Steam, dealing extra damage to flying units.
- Electricity + Liquid Nitrogen = Superconducting Magnetic Field, pulling all enemies within range.
- Arcane Dust + Glass Shards = Mirror Clone, duplicating a jar of the same attribute.
Players must observe enemy resistance tags and dynamically switch reagents or adjust jar sequences to maximize chemical reactions.

  1. Laboratory Exploration
- After clearing the 5 main regions (Distillation Tower, Centrifuge Room, Freezer Vault, Vacuum Chamber, Corridor of Time), unlock the "Infinite Abyss Mode."
- Weekly rotating "Experiment Challenge" modes: limited to 3 jar types, disabled reagents, timed eliminations, etc. Completing them rewards exclusive Jar Spirits like the "Hourglass of Time."

  1. Multiplayer Cooperation & Speedrunning
- 2–4 player online co-op: share resources and reagents, but jar explosions can affect teammates, requiring precise coordination.
- Daily "Fastest Seal" leaderboards: upload clear recordings for other players to download and race against as "ghosts," competing for the title of World's Fastest Alchemy Master.
