Game Introduction
FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster is a high-definition remastered version of the classic role-playing games FINAL FANTASY X and FINAL FANTASY X-2, released by SQUARE ENIX. Originally launched in 2001 on the PlayStation 2, FINAL FANTASY X was directed by renowned producer Yoshinori Kitase and scripted by Kazushige Nojima, marking the series' first fully voice-acted title. Set in the fictional world of Spira, the game follows the summoner Yuna and her Guardians on an epic quest to save their homeland. FINAL FANTASY X-2, released in 2003, is the series' first direct sequel. Set two years after the events of FINAL FANTASY X, it follows Yuna, Rikku, and Paine as they form the "Gullwings" and embark on a new journey to uncover the truth and save the world. The HD Remaster first launched on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2013, followed by releases on PC Steam and Nintendo Switch in 2019, allowing a new generation of players to experience these classic titles.
Game Features
Classic Storyline and Profound Emotions FINAL FANTASY X begins with "The Hymn of the Fayth on the Zanarkand Plains," telling the story of protagonist Tidus, a blitzball champion who is unexpectedly transported to Spira, where he meets the summoner Yuna and becomes her Guardian. The game explores deep themes such as fate versus free will, death, and redemption, with the love story between Tidus and Yuna being particularly moving. FINAL FANTASY X-2 continues Yuna's adventures two years after the events of the first game, introducing more lighthearted and vibrant elements.
Innovative Battle System FINAL FANTASY X introduced the CTB (Conditional Turn-Based) system, replacing the traditional turn-based combat. Players can freely choose their actions while the enemy's action gauge fills. The game also features the Aeon system and the summoner's unique "Summon" abilities. FINAL FANTASY X-2 brought the revolutionary "Dressphere System," allowing players to switch character jobs mid-battle, enabling diverse skill combinations.
Top-Tier Audio-Visual Experience Both titles boast some of the series' most exceptional soundtracks, with Nobuo Uematsu's compositions such as "Attack on the Zanarkand Ruins" and "Suteki da ne" becoming iconic classics. The HD Remaster supports high-definition resolutions, with select cutscenes re-rendered. Combined with full voice acting and Dolby Surround Sound, it delivers an immersive gaming experience.
HD Remastered Visual Enhancements The remastered version upgrades the graphics to 720p/1080p HD quality, with character models and textures remastered and the UI modernized. The Vita version also supports touchscreen controls for more convenient gameplay.
Gameplay
Character Development and Aeon System Players earn AP (Ability Points) through battles to enhance character attributes and learn new abilities. Aeons are a crucial element of the game; each summoner can call upon powerful guardians to join the fight, accompanied by spectacular cinematic sequences.
Dressphere Battle System (FF X-2) FINAL FANTASY X-2 introduces an innovative job system featuring dozens of roles such as Warrior, Red Mage, White Mage, Dancer, Gunner, and Swordfighter. By equipping different Dresspheres, players can switch character abilities and change jobs in real-time during combat, creating a wide array of tactical combinations.
Side Quests and Mini-Games The HD Remaster retains a wealth of side content and mini-games, including FINAL FANTASY X's Blitzball league and Aeon trials, as well as FINAL FANTASY X-2's fashion shows and puzzle games. Completing these activities rewards players with rare items and equipment.
Collection Elements and New Game Plus Both games feature extensive collectibles, such as weapons, armor, and Aeon compendiums. The titles support multiple playthroughs, with New Game Plus allowing players to carry over certain data and face stronger enemies. The HD Remaster also includes a "Completion Rate" feature.
