Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Game Introduction

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a sci-fi shooter RPG developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, officially released on October 14, 2014. As a spin-off of the Borderlands series, the game's storyline is set between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2. Players will assume the roles of four classic characters from previous installments, exploring a new planet beyond Pandora—the Moon. The game retains the series' signature cel-shaded art style and deep RPG systems, while introducing intense combat in low-gravity environments, offering a shooting experience distinct from the original titles. The story revolves around the experiences of Jack (Handsome Jack) before he becomes a dictator, revealing the descent into villainy of this iconic antagonist.

Game Features

Low-Gravity Combat System

The lunar environment introduces unique low-gravity gameplay, allowing players to jump higher and farther, making aerial combat possible. Gunfire generates recoil that affects character movement trajectories, adding strategic depth and skill to combat.

Oxygen Management System

The newly added oxygen system is a core innovation of this installment. Players consume oxygen while moving on the lunar surface, and depletion results in suffocation damage. Oxygen can be replenished by defeating enemies, destroying environmental objects, or using specific equipment, requiring players to manage resources wisely.

Laser Weapons and Cryo Element

This installment introduces a new category of laser weapons, providing a shooting experience different from traditional ballistic firearms. Additionally, the cryo element effect is significantly enhanced, allowing players to freeze enemies and deal area-of-effect damage.

Ground Vehicles and Aerial Combat

Unique vehicles such as the Stingray and the Sky-Tuk have been added. Players can also pilot aircraft to engage in aerial combat, greatly expanding the spatial dimensions of exploration and combat.

Gameplay

Character Class System

Players can choose from four playable characters, each with unique skill trees and class traits:

- Athena: A shield-bearing defensive character, excelling in melee blocking and counterattacks.
- Wilhelm: A berserker-type character who trades health for increased damage output.
- Claptrap: A mechanic-type character capable of deploying turrets and drones for support.
- Nisha: A gunslinger-type character with dual-wielded pistols boasting extremely high fire rates.

Skill Trees and Proficiency System

Each character has three independent skill trees. Players can unlock skill points through leveling up to create personalized builds. The proficiency system allows characters to gain additional bonuses in specific areas.

Co-op Mode

The game supports four-player online co-op and local split-screen co-op. Enemy health and difficulty scale dynamically with the number of players. Resource sharing and skill synergy in co-op mode add rich social enjoyment to the game.

Randomized Loot System

Inheriting the series' classic randomized loot generation system, weapons, gear, shields, and other items feature a vast array of attribute combinations, ensuring a fresh experience with each playthrough. The drop rates for legendary and orange-tier rare gear keep players continually pursuing more powerful equipment.
