Game Introduction

StarCraft II is a real-time strategy competitive game and the sequel to the original StarCraft. The game includes three distinct expansions: Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void.

This title features three vastly different yet balanced races: the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. Each race has undergone comprehensive revisions and redesigns, introducing some entirely new units while adding new abilities to some of the original classic units. In StarCraft II, players will witness the return of the Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. The development goal was to ensure that all factions in the new game are more distinct than in the original StarCraft, while maintaining absolute balance—a hallmark of the StarCraft legacy. Each race will have numerous new units, and familiar units have been adjusted. On March 12, 2013, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm officially launched. In Heart of the Swarm, you will wield the formidable powers of Sarah Kerrigan to continue evolving the Zerg Swarm to unprecedented heights, threatening the entire galaxy. At BlizzCon 2014, the new expansion StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void was announced. This expansion centers on the Protoss, continuing the story from the previous installment, with Zeratul as a central figure. Additionally, the game introduced new units for all three races: the Lurker (Zerg), the Ravager (Zerg), the Disruptor (Protoss), the Cyclone (Terran), and the Herc (Terran).
